We knew this time was coming…

It was inevitable.  Our company, UserVoice is gaining momentum.  The house we’ve lived in the past two years has been sold.  And school is starting.  All of this is a complicated orchestration of packing, scheduling, renting, deposits, offices, insurance & health care providers.

We managed to find a home while in Santa Cruz while attending Freelance Camp – it was almost serendipity the way it all happened, but that’s how these things happen.  It’s almost like all of our life has been that way the last few months.  We also found office space at a new coworking space that I assisted in seeding the idea.

Santa Cruz is going to be a good base for us.  It’s not far from San Francisco (1.2 hours), close to Silicon Valley (25 minutes), and even closer to the ocean.  We’ve found the area to be very family friendly with good schools and the weather is second to none.

On top of all this, Santa Cruz is going through a revitalization process with several organizations gathering a groundswell of opportunity for start-ups and creative businesses.  Consider the evolving Geek Culture, Santa Cruz Next, and the Design & Innovation Center.  It’s all becoming a timely place to be located.

As for the business end, getting a start-up up & running is hard.  Finding great people to work with is even harder!  Graciously, my partners are amazing collaborators and polar opposites in strength & experience.  This has become a complimentary working environment for all of us.

Things are moving fast & furious – I can’t wait to share with you more.

In the mean time, I have to finish packing & cancel the cable, sattelite & utilities.  :)

I forgot to tell you, Santa Cruz has decided to let it snow this winter… so you’ll still have to shovel and scrape your windows :)

Good for you man. I am so glad that you found your steam powered locomotive to take you to the future.

Your daughter and I suppose the rest of you, deserve all that happiness.

Though really it is just your daughter.

Now you can look back on living in a townhouse down the block from your old man as a fond memory.

Congrats, Marcus. Wisconsin is losing a great mind in you, and your Milwaukee friends will miss you dearly, but we wish you the best :D
